Upon my return, I was presented with the extra charge for turning it in "late" -- With the return time I gave them being 4:30pm and my actual return time being before 4pm, I asked about the fee. I was told that my return time was entered as 4am. So I asked why would that be? It was explained to me in an "oh well -- mistakes happen" type of manner.
The people are nice at the front the desk, but the management is horrible and greedy. We went on a once in a lifetime trip but were involved in an accident that was not our fault. We thought we were good to go as we bought their crazy expensive insurance and had our own as well through our own insurance (we had car rental coverage). Everything was settled and done according to our insurance and AVIS.
So I called five times to the Gillette Wyoming Avis, and NO MANAGER would call me back or talk to me. Guess who does stalk me? The collections agency. These people are complete swindlers, they are claiming loss of use for two weeks? WHAAT? The receptionist-who was nice said, no they had plenty of vans-the vehicle we used-and they never run out of them. So why are they asking for money for loss of use (a mortgage payment and a months worth of groceries worth of money)? Greed. Also, as part of AVIS (which AVIS 8000# confirmed the Gillette WY branch can get them any car needed within reason and certainly have plenty of vans).
I left somewhat confused -- I paid more than I quoted... I get that it was because of an error in transferring info from my paper to computer.
Mortified, I wasted a TON of time talking to multiple people at customer service from AVIS (the 800 #-they were nice and apologetic) and then their collection agency and then their document group. Guess what, AVIS has the case was closed and had NO record of PurCo or any OUTSTANDING $ owed. What?
SO to summarize, the crooks at Gillette had no inconvenience because of our traumatic accident and AVIS the company itself says we are done, but this local branch management has decided to send us to a collections company with a fraudulent claim. The PurCO crooks are sending letters and calling me on my cell when I am at work. It is horrible. How can the local manager of this place make this claim without ever calling us, when AVIS and his or her own employees say there was no loss of need (by the way the crooked PurCO company said a simple bumper repair took 2 weeks to fix and charged us an insane amount)? DO NOT RENT FROM THIS AVIS!!!!! Even with the exorbitant price we paid for insurance they are trying to screw us half a year later! HORRIBLE PEOPLE in MANAGEMENT totally greedy!!!!!
The lady that called seemed to be stuck on the mistake of calling it a hidden charge and wouldn't grasp that my point was that I was charged more than I was quoted. Come to find out, they just used one of the online 'test' reservations to make my rental... Why did I fill anything out? Why wasn't I told they were going to use one of those? None of my paperwork stated times of return so I couldn't refer to the paperwork I was given... Why was that not an option? Why couldn't I review what they put in as my trip info? When I mentioned to the lady who called that I get it now, it wasn't that I had the wrong time, it was that they used the wrong reservation... She promptly started the "this conversation is over, have a nice day"
That's it right? NOOOO! SIX MONTHS later with no WARNING and NO communication from this AVIS we received a letter for thousand + dollars from a COLLECTION COMPANY>PurCo (just google them-these crooks are out of Utah, what a lovely group of thieves as you will see from their reviews).
Excellent customer service! They recognized my plus status with Avis and had an upgrade ready for me when my flight arrived. My flight was over an hour late and the gal at the front desk waited to give us the keys to our car. I definitely recommend doing business with this Avis.
I wrote some feedback to them and referred to the 'mistake' as "hidden charges" -- My bad, mistakes happen... I got a follow up call that prompted this review...
Three stars because the vehicle was as expected, the staff was very nice. Even the lady that called, was the original lady I spoke with at the counter when I picked up, and dropped off -- she was great also... Minus the two stars for calling and ruining my day by arguing about something that was like $20 and saying "I didn't call just to argue"...
Tried making the reservation online... something between my browser and the scripts on the page made it difficult. In the end, a few "test" reservations were made in attempts to figure out how to reserve online... We gave up and dealt with the rental agency in person. Filled out the rental information and trip information by hand. Informed the counter staff at the agency that they would probably need to cancel/delete the ones we made online.
